Meet the original slip lead—a leash and collar combo designed to keep dogs secure and support better leash manners. When used properly, a slip lead can help prevent dogs from backing out of a traditional collar and is an excellent tool for loose-leash training.
The Mendota Slip Lead is a longtime favorite among rescuers, fosters, and trainers for its instantly “broken-in” feel and durable construction. The signature leather stopper actually stays in place (the way it’s supposed to), making this leash reliable from foster to foster and walk after walk. Soft in the hand but sturdy enough for everyday use, this slip lead quickly becomes a go-to.
We carry the 6-foot length—ideal for giving dogs more room to learn without losing control—and offer two width options to suit different dogs and handlers. Whether you’re training, transitioning fosters, or just looking for a dependable everyday lead, this slip lead is bound to become one of your favorites—just like it’s one of ours.
